About Jameela

Jameela, a word originating from the Swahili language commonly spoken in Africa, an idea conceived deep in the heart of Africa, and birthed in the Netherlands, means radiant and all that is beautiful.

My husband and I grew up amidst the sweeping landscapes of Africa. Since the age of five, when I first started horse riding in Mozambique, I knew that I had discovered my true calling. My passion for horses grew with each year that passed, with the love for these magnificent animals etched into the depths of my being.

But life, with its unpredictable twists and turns, beckoned us to venture beyond the borders of beloved Africa. So, we bid farewell to the land that had nurtured our spirit and the horses that had been our constant companions. We left the vast plains of Africa, choosing the Netherlands as our new home, where for four years, missed the joy of having horses in our lives.

When an opportunity arose to acquire a broodmare with impressive showjumping lineage, we decided to establish Jameela Stoeterij. Thus, our new journey, born out of a hobby and passion for horses started, with our horses being located on a boutique farm, near Groningen in the north of The Netherlands. While we primarily intend to sell the foals we breed, we also nurture a desire to selectively acquire or breed with the aim of participation in regional and international shows.

We are not solely a business, but our breeding program is born from a passion for horses. It allows us to have breeding plans that we truly believe in and plans we would want for ourselves. It allows us to experiment with different bloodlines and we are very excited to see what this brings.

Join us as we forge a new path forward, keeping the spirit of Africa alive. Jameela is a true reminder that love has no boundaries and that true passion remains forever intertwined with one’s very essence.

With Love,

Liani & Adriaan Gouws
